“BIG EYES” CONTACTS
Recent trends have some folks wanting to enhance the size of their eyes. Started by the pop culture, music videos and computer animation, the large eye look resembles a fawn-like innocence. The colors can be unusual and exotic.
The large eye look is achieved by using a contact lens that fits over the iris and extends slightly beyond. The concept is a fun look and a sense of fashion.
However…be warned…
Currently these contacts are illegal in the United States and are being marketed to the general public without precaution. Any one who has properly been fitted for contact lenses through their regular eye care doctor knows the things to consider when wearing contacts. The proper size, curve, fit and power of the lens is important. Proper hygiene is also super important. Unless a contact lens is evaluated on a person’s eye it can cause redness, irritation and infection.
To prevent eye problems, or disease, the Food and Drug Administration requires contact lens websites to have customers verify their prescriptions with their eye doctor. Most “Circle lens” distributors have not yet complied with these laws. So it is up to the public to be aware of the risk factors for eye health problems.
The companies that sell these lenses are happy to sell illegally to younger or uninformed consumers who may not be aware of the health issues at stake. Anyone who has ever suffered from an eye ailment or disease will tell you not to take your vision and eyes for granted. Looking good for one day or because it is popular is not worth risking your vision. Please pass this message on to others so they are informed and can possibly prevent vision problems or even blindness to those you love.
